The Foolish
Crow and the Clever Fox
One day a crow stole a piece of meat. It flew away and sat
on the branch of a tree. Suddenly a fox was going under that tree. He saw the
piece of meat in the beak of the crow and wanted to have the piece of meat. He
hit upon a plan to accomplish his evil design. He wanted to flatter the crow.
He began to say that the crow was very beautiful to look at. Its feathers were
extremely glamorous and Its beak was very nice. Further, the clever fox added
that the beauty of the crow could not be described in words. The sweet words of
the fox pleased the crow very much and it became overwhelmed with joy. But
again the fox said that the crow was unfortunately dumb. At this, the crow
became a bit angry and in order to drive the futility of his words, the crow
opened its mouth to caw. Then and there the piece of meat fell down from its
mouth and the clever fox grabbed it and went away with that piece of meat.
(ii) A thirsty crow
One
day a crow became very thirsty. He flew from one place to another place in
search of a little bit of water. But he didn't found a little drop of water
anywhere. He continued his search everywhere for water. At last, he saw a jar
under a tree at a distance. He flew down to it and looked into the jar. There
was a little water at the bottom of the jar/pitcher. But it was too hard for
the crow to reach the bottom. The crow tried to upset the jar. But the crow was
unable to do it because he was very tired. The crow was in a fix what to do.
Reasonably he became very disappointed. He was thinking about what could be
done. But he could not find any means to relieve his thirst. At last, losing
heart when he was about to fly away, he saw some pieces of stones and rocks
lying at a little distance. At once he hit upon a plan. He got to the stones
and picked up a piece of stone in his mouth. He flew to the jar/pitcher and
dropped the stone into it. He continued the same task several times and
gradually the level of water was rising to the mouth of the pitcher. At last,
the water level came up within his reach. Then the crow drank water to his
heart's content and flew away happily.
(iii) A Greedy Farmer
Once upon a time there lived a farmer
in a village. The farmer was very poor and within his small income he was
unable to continue his family properly. He always thought how to increase his
income. One day he bought a goose from the market. From this goose, he hoped to
get more eggs and geese. After some days when the goose became matured, it
started laying eggs. The eggs were golden and it made the farmer so happy.
Every morning the goose laid a golden egg and the farmer used to sell the
golden egg to the market. Within a short time the luck of the farmer became
changing. Gradually he became rich. Actually, the farmer was very greedy and
impatient. So, one day he thought that if he cut the belly of the goose he
would get all the eggs at a time and by this way he would be rich overnight.
So, to have all the eggs at a time one day he took a sharp knife and cut the
belly of the goose. But alas! There was no egg inside it. He was so sorry and
started crying. Finally, he realized his fault and the reason behind losing all
is greediness. JaeedSir,CMHS,01814 414141
(iv) A dog and a piece of
meat
Once upon a time, there lived a dog. One day, he
was very hungry and went in search of food. To his delight, the dog found a
juicy bone. The dog happily carried the bone back home. He held the bone
tightly in his mouth and scowled at anyone who tried to take it away. On his
way home, he had to cross a bridge. While crossing the bridge, the dog saw his
reflection in the water below. The foolish dog thought there was another dog in the water,
holding another juicy bone. The greedy dog wanted to have that bone too. He
growled and barked at his own reflection in the water. “I’ll get that bone
too,” thought the greedy dog, and he snapped his sharp teeth and barked at his
reflection in the water.
But alas! The moment the foolish dog opened his
mouth to snap his teeth, the piece of bone fell into the stream. The dog lost
his bone and had to go home, hungry.
(v) An Ant and a Dove
On a hot day of summer, an ant was searching for some
water. After walking around for some time, she came near the river. To drink
the water, she climbed up on a small rock. While trying to drink a water, she
slipped and fell into the river. There was a dove sitting on a branch of a tree
who saw an ant falling into the river. The dove quickly plucked a leaf and dropped
it into the river near the struggling ant. The ant moved towards the leaf and
climbed up onto it. Soon, the leaf drifted to dry ground, and the ant jumped
out. She looked up to the tree and thanked the dove. Later, the same day, a
bird catcher nearby was about to throw his net over the dove hoping to trap it.
An ant saw him and guessed what he was about to do. The dove was resting and he
had no idea about the bird catcher. An ant quickly bit him on the foot. Feeling
the pain, the bird catcher dropped his net and let out a light scream. The dove
noticed it and quickly flew away.

Now I am in class VI but my first day at the school is still
fresh in my memory because the day was difficult and also enjoyable for me. The

At that time I was six years old .I went to school with my father by a
rickshaw. After 20 minutes we reached at school gate. I was charmed to see the
buildings, students and others of the school. After sometimes my father took me
to the headmaster’s room. He was a very nice man. His smiling face and gentle
words put me at ease. He asked me my name and I told him my name. He asked me some questions. I could say them all. The headmaster then called a teacher
to take me to my class. The teacher welcomed me and gave me a seat in the class
room. He introduced me to my classmates. They accepted me very friendly. I felt

(b) A Railway Station
A railway station is a very important place for
railway communication. It is a place where trains stop at and start from. The
passengers of a train get into or get down from a train at a railway station.
It has one or more red buildings. They are generally made of brick. From a
distance, one can see the green and red signals and red buildings of a station.
It has some rooms. Some of them are the waiting rooms for male and female
passengers. There are ticket counters, a booking office for goods, the station
master’s room, some tea stalls, other stalls, etc. in a railway station. Here
many hawkers are found shouting the names of their goods and selling them. Here
railway porters are found looking for the passengers to carry their goods. In
every railway station, there are two or more railway lines (or, tracks). Near
the station, there are two signal posts with red and green signals. The point’s
man maintains the signals. He also moves along the platform with red and green
flags in his hand. Just outside the station, there are stands for rickshaws,
auto-rickshaws, and other vehicles. Before the arrival of a train, the
passengers collect their tickets standing in a queue. When a train arrives, the
station becomes busy and noisy. Some passengers get into the train and some
passengers get down from it. When it leaves the station, it becomes calm and
quite — sometimes it looks like a deserted place.

A man who
collects rubbish every day from our area is called a cleaner. Generally, he has

area where he lives. Generally, he gets up early in the morning. Then he goes
to collect the rubbish that the people keep in front of their
houses. Sometimes the bins are very dirty and they smell bad. But the
cleaner doesn’t mind. As he believes that all jobs have their own
value. He takes out everything from the bins and puts them in a
large plastic bag or in the push cart with him. If he stops his working,
the whole area will become dirty and unhealthy. The life of a cleaner is full

(e) Bangabandhus Childhood
The father of the nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman is the
architect of independent Bangladesh. He is recognized as the greatest Bengali
of the past Thousand Years. We owe to his charismatic leadership for making us
a free nation. This great leader was born on 17th March 1920 at Tungipara in
Gopalganj. His father's name was Sheikh Lutfur Rahman and mother's name was
Sayera Khatun. He passed the matriculation examination from the Gopalganj
Mission High School. He obtained B.A. degree in 1947 from the Kolkata Islamic
college. Afterwards, he joined the politics and did his best for the Bengali
Nation to make them free from the misrule and oppression of the pak rulers .His
history address on the 7th March 1971, a mammoth gathering at the Race Course
marked a turning point in the history of the Bengali Nation. In his address he
made a clarion call, saying: “Build forts in each homestead. You must resist
the Pakistani army with whatever you have in hand. Remember: since we have already
had to shed blood, we will have to shed a lot more of it. By the grace of Allah
we will be able to liberate the people of this land. The struggle this time is
a struggle for freedom__ the struggle this time is a struggle for emancipation.
He was arrested at 25 March, 1971 and was taken to Pakistan. He was sent back
home after Liberation. He was the Prime Minister and sometime President of
Bangladesh but unfortunately he was assassinated by some misguided Army
officers on 15th August, 1975, along with most of his family members excepting
for his two daughters. It is considered a great loss for the nation. Nothing
can compensate the loss. He was engraved at Tungipara. JaeedSir,CMHS,01814 414141

Dear Sumon,

foodstuff and utensils with us. Some of us carried cameras and tape-recorders
to the picnic. We ourselves cooked our food and served one another. We spent

The picnic was an enjoyable picnic. It would be more enjoyable if you could
accompany us.
This is all for today.

Kandirpar,Comilla.
11-09-2019
Dear Sharmin,
How are you? I hope you are well. Today I have taken pen and
paper to write you about an interesting event. Few days back I had paid a visit
to the National Zoo.
You know that during last vacation I went to visit my uncle’s
house in Dhaka. I, my parents and my uncle-aunt went to visit the National Zoo
at Mirpur, Dhaka. After buying entrance ticket, we entered the zoo. At first we
saw the cages of monkeys. They were playing with the visitors. Gradually we saw
many animals. There are tiger, elephant, peacock, lion, snakes, leopard,
giraffe and many more animals. I also saw the Royal Bengal Tiger which is
famous all over the world. I got a rare chance to ride an elephant in the zoo.
The area of the zoo is so big that we got tired. Then we took our food
that was brought by aunty. We spent the whole day in the zoo. Then we returned
home in the evening.
The day will always remain
fresh in my memory. It’s all for today. Don’t forget to write me.
